Abstract

A new restriction-like endonuclease, AluI, has been partially purified from Arthrobacter luteus. This enzyme cleaves bacteriophage λ DNA, adenovirus-2 DNA and simian virus 40 DNA at many sites including all sites cleaved by the endonuclease HindIII from Haemophilus influenzae serotype d.
