Abstract
Honor Fell died on 22 April 1986. She was a remarkable scientist who in the course of a career spanning over 60 years, made great contributions to biology and medicine. This is not the place for a full biography but in this brief article I want to discuss just one aspect of her work, the development and exploitation of cells and tissues in culture
